Couple of months back when Shruthi from Sayoga Mysore presented the opportunity to showcase my macramé creations at their annual bazaar, I was super excited. The prospect of exploring markets beyond Bengaluru was a dream unfolding, and off we went to Mysore for a crafty escapade!
The excitement infected my family too, and we turned it into a family trip. I worked hard to get everything ready, each knot tied with the intention of presenting my best work. Two days before the bazaar, I meticulously started with the packing, and even rehearsed the stall setup at home.
Eager to embrace the cultural essence of Mysore, I chose to don a saree on day one. Early morning on December 9th, we hit the road, had breakfast in Mysore, and marched into the venue like a crafty parade.
Setting up the stall was like crafting in real-time – a blend of planned precision and on the spot adjustments. The inauguration time arrived, and while Trishika Devi, the Rani of Mysore, couldn't make it, Shruthi's family stepped in, launching our weekend of crafty fun! My family joined us around noon time and camped out with us all day into Sunday until we wrapped up.
The evening brought an unexpected honor, his Highness Yaduveer Krishnaraja Wadiyar, the Raja of Mysore, visited us. Nervousness gripped me as he came to my stall, but his humility and genuine interest in each stall owner's products left a lasting impression. I summoned the courage to gift him a handmade key tag which he gracefully accepted.
After a bustling day at the bazaar, we went to our homestay to relax. The night was filled with lively conversations, laughter, and shared stories, as we chit-chatted our hearts out. Eventually, we reluctantly bid each other goodnight, knowing that a restful sleep was necessary for the busy day ahead at the stall.
Shruthi's connects and marketing efforts brought in a good crowd on day 1. Despite the shift in pace the next day, the warmth of compliments continued to flow, including for my saree.😊 With each interaction and shared moment, Knot Square's debut in Mysore became a cherished memory.
I am grateful to my family for their constant support throughout this journey, and to my ex-colleague who took the time to visit me with her friends. I also would like to thank my relatives in Mysore who visited the bazaar when they heard I would be there. All their presence made this experience even more special. Here's to many more adventures ahead!
